Ideas and Prenuptial Agreements

Prenuptial agreements have become more common among millennials. I have performed business valuations for many divorce cases but none have involved a prenuptial agreement. Orly Lobel discusses the potential for inequities citing the familiar scenario where the wife holds a steady job while the husband works on his app.Or vice versa. “They share the risk now, but if they divorce, the husband reaps the rewards of his intellectual property, and the prenup ensures his ex-wife gets nothing.” Alton Abramowitz makes the case for a well crafted agreement. Worthwhile reading for anyone contemplating marriage where intellectual property- or the potential for intellectual property- exists.
